Win £50 worth of B&Q vouchers with The Cottage Smallholder and Direct Line Grand Draw
Posted by Fiona Nevile in Cottage tales | 65 commentsFor those of you who missed out on the metal bedstead competition: we’ve got another great prize to offer you! This time we’re teaming up with Direct Line home insurance to give you the chance to win one of two B&Q vouchers worth £50!
Like most people these days, I review all of our insurance policies annually. Looking at all the options can be time consuming but definitely worth doing as it can save a lot of money. I use the comparison sites first to get the general lay of the land and then I look at the companies that are not listed on comparison sites. To date I have generally gone with insurers that are not listed on comparison sites as they can offer tweaks and deals that meet our needs exactly.
Direct Line is not listed on any comparison site and is one of the most trusted insurers in the UK. They realise the value that we put on the contents of our homes – that’s why they are offering a prize of a couple of £50 of B&Q vouchers for two lucky winners to add something special to their own home.
To be in with a chance of winning, simply leave a comment telling us how you’d spend the £50 voucher; every entrant will be put into our random selection software and the winner will be notified by e-mail. So please check your email on Tuesday May 22nd 2012 to see if you are one of the lucky winners!
Cottage Smallholder/Direct Line Grand Draw Terms and Conditions:
Delivery will be within 28 days of receiving the winner’s address. Prize draw open to customers and non-customers aged 18 or over who are UK residents. Draw is not open to employees of RBS Group Companies, their families or anyone associated with this draw. Proof of eligibility must be provided on request.
The two prizes are £50 worth of B&Q vouchers and the prize includes postage to winners’ UK addresses. Promotion runs from Tuesday May 8th 2012 and all entries must be received by 11.59pm on Monday May 21st 2012 latest.
Winners will be drawn at random at the end of the promotion. If a prize remains unclaimed after reasonable efforts have been made to contact the winner the promoter will be entitled to dispose of the prize as it sees fit without any liability to the winner for having done so.

I’d spend the vouchers on a new strimmer for the garden
If I won a voucher I would reserve it for purchases of metholated spirits. As most of you know my current passion is hot smoking food and the burners of my smoker run on meths. At £4 for half a litre meths (and a bottle only lasts two cookings) is more expensive than petrol. Vastly more expensive than supermarket cider, which makes me wonder why it was favoured by a certain community 🙂

Have I won yet?
Love it – made me laugh out loud! And now you have two entries to the comp you naughty girl!
Well if I won, the voucher would go towards the setting up of my new garden. The garden is really helping me to settle into my new home and I am trying to make it my own with raised beds, tubs of flowers and hanging baskets. The voucher would be spent on creating a colourful display.
I would buy a watering system for my hanging baskets. It takes hours (hmmm) to get around them all, and rain or shine they still need a top up. My dad had a system of little pipes which he managed to water all his baskets with one turn of a tap. Bliss
Husband would dearly love a new wheelbarrow, as he’s getting a bit fed up with constantly repairing the punctured wheel…..and rescuing the stuff that falls through the rusty holey bits in the barrow itself! In fact, it’s really time the wheelbarrow was retired 🙁
Well, if I were lucky enough to win, then it would be £50 towards a new shed for the allotment. Here’s hoping!
I would buy a new roof for our wood store. Thanks for your great blog it is much enjoyed.
ooh yes please!! surely in the gardening section. there’s so much i need in terms of tools… ideally, a petrol strimmer. money off towards a top-end brand as the lotti demands something very powerful with the brambles i’ve got! but really for the voucher’s worth, i’d buy a decent pair of wooden handled shears for the rampant willow hedge i have.. fingers crossed!!
Fiona – you are spoiling us with another “chance to win” so soon. If I was lucky enough to win a £50 voucher I would enjoy a leisurely browse around B and Q and buy the ‘something’ that took my fancy.
Thank you very much. xx
