Happy Christmas everyone
Posted by Fiona Nevile in Cottage tales | 13 commentsThere are always a few last minute visits for me on Christmas Eve. And this is fine. They are generally bookings for the New Year and a few that need to be tackled over the holiday.
I really wanted to be home by three o’clock when the live carols from King’s College (Cambridge) started on the radio. I reversed in with seconds to spare.
I heard the opening words of the first carol.
“Once in Royal David’s City stood a lowly cattle shed, where a mother laid her baby in a manger for his bed“ and suddenly it was Christmas for me.
Then I had to move like lightning to pot up and decorate the tree, marzipan the cake (to be iced this morning), bake the ham (cured and smoked by us for the first time) and pack some presents. The latter were so well hidden that it was well after midnight before I unearthed them.
Happy Christmas everyone.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to people and aminals at the Cottage Smallholder. It’s actually Boxing Day – I managed to resist going on-line yesterday. Hope you all had a lovely day. From Linda, Barry and Rupert the cat, who is asleep on his Christmas parcel (nothing in it apart from used wrapping – he hates toys, loves wrapping paper!!).
Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to all the members of the Cottage Smallhoder cast.
Happy Christmas Fiona and Danny,
Here’s hoping 2009 is a very good one for you.
I’m the last one awake. I’ve got my second wind and it’s gone 1am so it may be a very late one…
I happened across your web site back in the summer while i was looking for a pork belly recipe, i am pleased to say that i have stayed ever since and used quite a few other recipes that you have posted. A really good web page and i will look forward to your other adventures plus the recipes of course in 2009 but may i wish you both a very Merry Christmas, regards John in Sussex
Happy Christmas, and thank you for all your interesting articles.
Best wishes for the new year.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
The turkey is almost ready and the cranberry sauce made to your recipe is wonderful.I love your website and am looking forward to finding out what life will bring for us all in 2009.
Merry, merry Christmas, Fiona and Danny. We have scaled back Christmas on account of my brother being so ill in hospital and will reorganise perhaps for Feb half term or Easter when my sister and her children can join us too.
Sounds as if you were kept busy yesterday. I prepared the veg for today then relaxed with a glass of rum and blackcurrant, which was quite a treat.
Merry Christmas x
