Inca came home this afternoon. Svelte and so much better. Fingers crossed that the steroids work – she’s back in a months time for anoither spinal tap to see how things are progressing. Thank you for all your support which has bouyed us up over the past week.

I celebrated by putting up our Easter Tree. We’ve had one for the past two years now. The idea is that you cut twigs in bud and gradually over the Easter holiday the leaves appear. I usually just give the beech hedging a bit of a haircut to make our tree. But I’m a bit late this year – ideally you cut the branches a couple of weeks before Easter. So I’ve included Forsythia and Bachelor’s Buttons (Kerria Japonica Pleniflora) so this year our tree will have flowers as well as leaves.

The great thing about an Easter tree us that there are no rules so you can have a lot of fun with this project. I’ve lost the eggs and the portly bee that we had last year but unearthed a carrier bag containing these treasures in a desperate search this afternoon – they had gone AWOL five years ago. Without the eggs the tree looked a bit bare so I added the bows.

There is something really hopeful and uplifting about an Easter tree. Watching the leaves and flowers gradually unfurl is magical. If you give it a go this year you won’t be disappointed.
